On behalf of all the citizens, the staff, and the elected officials I welcome you to the City of Senoia’s website.  Please take a few minutes to browse the site and acquaint yourself with our town.  The combination of historic homes, great location, and friendly people make Senoia the uniquely charming place that we are proud to call home.

In order to truly enjoy Senoia, I encourage you to visit and experience Senoia in person. Come see the historic downtown and marvelous neighborhoods. Meeting locals and seeing all that Senoia has to offer might make you want to make it your new hometown.

“Keep Senoia Beautiful Day” Planned for April 26, 2008

In conjunction with “Keep America Beautiful” the City of Senoia is partnering with residents, Dependable Waste and other local businesses to clean up, beautify and improve the neighborhoods of Senoia, creating a safer and more livable community. City residents can bring household waste and debris to the corner of Howard Road and Andrews Parkway between the hours of 8:30AM to 4PM. Volunteers for clean up crews are meeting at the Senoia Coffee Company at 8:00 AM. The City appreciates the generosity of the Tencate/Southern Mills for the use of the dumpster location.

Art Show Opening in Historic Senoia

Set against the rustic brick walls of a century-old building, "Art Senoia" will debut April 25th with an opening reception from 6:30 to 9:30 at 20 Main Street in Historic Downtown Senoia. This is the first event of the newly formed Cultural Arts Committee of the Senoia Downtown Development Authority. "Art Senoia" will feature a range of beautiful paintings along with fine photography and art quilts. The art is for sale, and a portion of the proceeds goes to support the Cultural Arts Committee. Local shops and restaurants will also be open the evening of the reception.

Local painters taking part in the show are David Boyd Jr., Victor Dallas, Anne Harwell, Martin Pate, Jane Whitehurst, Joy Whitley and Yun Liu. Photographers showing their artwork are Paul Conlan and Jeremy Harwell. Found metal sculpture by Zack and David Moye and fiber art and quilts by Claudia Wood are also included in the exhibit.

After the April 25th reception, the exhibit will be open Saturdays 11:00 to 5:00 and Sundays 1:00 to 5:00 through Memorial Day, May 26th. It can also be viewed during the week by students and other groups by appointment. The reception and art show are free and open to the public.

Historic Senoia Plans Memorial Day Festival

Mark your calendars for Monday, May 26th, when the City of Senoia and the Downtown Development Authority will hold its third annual Memorial Day parade and festivities for the whole family. Entertainment, food, children's activities, and shopping from 10:00 to 5:00 will be followed by a fireworks display after dark. The U.S. Army Ground Forces Band will march in the 2:00 p.m. parade and present a concert afterwards. Emcees will be "The Car Guys," Scott Sargeant and Charlie Filkins.

The City is seeking parade participants such as Veterans, businesses, dance troupes, civic organizations, owners of vintage cars and trucks, etc. Quality art, antiques and homemade crafts vendors are also wanted for the festival (no yard sale items, please).

Gin Street to be closed

The Mayor and Council approved the petition of Historical Development Ventures to close Gin Street in order to accommodate infrastructure and road improvements within the redevelopment of the Gin Property.  The street will be closed through July 1, 2008.

 
 

Georgia EPD Bans Most Forms of Outdoor Water Use

The director of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) has declared a level four drought response across the northern third of Georgia, which prohibits most types of outdoor residential water use effective immediately.  Landscaping installed by licensed professionals may be watered for 30 days.  For more information click on the Georgia EPD link below or call Senoia City Hall.
