Senoia Area Historical Society Museum
Located a short walk from downtown, the Senoia Area Historical Society Museum provides a personal encounter with the traditions, history, and culture of Senoia. Inside the historic home at 6 Couch Street, the central hall and five rooms are filled with memorabilia that bring to life the story of Senoia. Historic artifacts like original land lottery deeds from the 1820's and ration coupon books from the 1940's share space with personal artifacts like the 1939 embroidered signature blouse and the 1941 Girl Scout scrapbook. And original teller windows from the 1874 Farmers & Merchants Bank stand proudly in the History Room alongside the exhibit containing Senoia High School student newspapers, diplomas, and photographs.
Visitors can relive the 1996 Olympic Torch relay event as they thumb through the photo album on display next to one of the town banners. They can study the large 1898 map of Senoia, comparing it to smaller maps from 1907 and 1933. And history buffs can spend time in the newly-established Research Library which contains local reference books along with personal accounts and memoirs of townspeople. Open since 2010, the Senoia Area Historical Society Museum is staffed by dedicated volunteers every Friday and Saturday between 1:00 and 4:00. Admission is free. Donations are appreciated.
The Senoia Area Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, and protecting our history and heritage. The Senoia Area Historical Society meets at 6 Couch Street on the second Thursday of the month at 7pm. All are welcome.
The Society maintains a history museum focusing on the people and events that make Senoia unique. It is open Fridays and Saturdays from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and by appointment. Visit the website for more information.
