Tree Commission

The Senoia Tree Commission Purpose:

The guiding presumption behind this Committee is the belief that the natural environment has significant value in and of itself, and that all reasonable measures should be used in the preservation of that environment, consistent with continued development of the city. The City of Senoia Tree Committee intends to cultivate and encourage a healthy and sustainable community canopy within the city. It is not the intent of this Committee to regulate individual properties where activities do not require land disturbance, building construction or timber harvest permit.

The downtown commercial area is densely developed and contains a significant collection of historic building types.  The Senoia Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is a public body created by the City of Senoia.  Our purpose is economic development through downtown revitalization, heritage, preservation, and restoration of an historic sense of place.  The Senoia DDA is an independent authority dedicated to the revitalization and promotion of all commercially zoned areas in the city limits of Senoia.

Senoia Historic District Sign

Through the hard work of many dedicated residents of Senoia, on March 17, 1989 the Senoia Historic District was entered on the United States Department of the Interior's National Register of Historic Places. One of the provisions of this recognition is that the city creates zoning standards, regulations and guidelines that will protect and advance development goals in the Historic District. The focus of the Historic Preservation Commission is the Preservation, Rehabilitation, Restoration and Reconstruction of Historic Properties.

The Development Authority of the City of Senoia is a public body created by the City of Senoia.  The Development Authority is an independent authority that seeks to increase Senoia’s prosperity through economic diversification and job creation.  We will accomplish this by working with local, regional, state, and national partners, to promote economic development in the city with new and existing companies.
